FAQ

What if the Library does not own the e-book or print book I am looking for?

Millions of electronic books are available to UC San Diego users in the HathiTrust Digital Library. Full access is available to all and allows reading of out-of-copyright items (generally those published prior to 1926) and US government documents.  UC San Diego students and faculty/staff may login to download entire books or journal volumes; general public may save individual pages as pdfs.

The Library may also be able to buy or locate the book - please fill out the purchase suggestion form or use Ask Us A Question under Contact Us section on the right side. The reference librarians can assist to locate your desired title (print or electronic) if it's not yet cataloged.

Pro tip: To find free e-books from the Internet archive or hosted by an academic author on their site, use Worldcat.org

To borrow a print book from San Diego area libraries (SDSU, USD, SDPL), use Circuit with an San Diego Public Library card. UC San Diego has temporarily suspended participation in Circuit.
